LMJS will be offering an advanced beginning running program this fall to help you get ready to jog/walk a 10K, which is 6.2 miles! This program is designed for those who can already jog/walk 3 miles or 45 minutes and want to work up to a 10K which is 6.2 miles. Thinking of doing the Oakland Running Festival Half Marathon Training Program? This class will also help you get ready for that program!

These training sessions begin on Saturday, October 30 at 10:00am and will be held for six consecutive Saturdays at 10:00am concluding with a 10K race on the following Sunday, December 12. The class will involve a sliding scale fee from $10 to $40.

Our Saturday runs will take place at the beautifully renovated Lake Merritt. The first class will be held Saturday October 30th at 10:00am. We'll meet at the corner of Perkins St and Bellevue Ave. The class will culminate with the ZombieRunner Quarry Lakes 10K, a totally fun race at Quarry Lakes in Fremont to be held on Sunday, December 12 (race fee extra).

At each class, we'll begin with dynamic exercises to warm up. Then we'll do a jog/walk as a group. We'll conclude with a group stretch and a Jack Daniels Minute (my favorite coach) to learn a bit about running theory.

We'll provide training schedules, maps, and lots of encouragement. You'll need to come ready to run every Saturday with a water bottle and towel/dry tshirt for the end.

This training is appropriate for anyone who wants to work up to a 10K. RSVP required for this program, with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 20 participants, to keep things safer.

Covid Protocols:  We ask that all participants be vaccinated to keep our group as safe as possible. Come wearing a mask to check in. While running, it will be your personal preference to run with or without your mask. If you are not feeling well or have any covid symptoms, please refrain from coming.  We will be following the applicable county Health Guidelines on the date of our run.
