LMJS MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON TRAINING

Official Training Program for the
2020 Oakland Running Festival Marathon and Half Marathon

Train for the Oakland Marathon or Half Marathon on March 22, 2020 – or another spring marathon or half marathon – and join the LMJS community of runners. We will help you go the distance, support your goals, and have fun, whether you’re signing up for your first half marathon or your 15th marathon. You’ll discover new locations to run long and enjoy the camaraderie of new running buddies who run at your pace. Stay motivated through the fall and winter. Early bird registration is now open!  

Marathon Training Program

  • 18 weeks
  • Begins Monday, November 18, 2019
  • Training program kickoff and first group run on Sunday, November 24 at 8:00 am. Oakland location TBA.

Half Marathon Training Program

  • 12 weeks
  • Begins Monday, December 30, 2019
  • First group run on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 8:00 am.
  • Half trainees are encouraged to join group runs with marathon trainees beginning November 24 for more fun and fitness.

*** This is not a "couch to finish line" program. It's expected trainees will be running when the programs begin. ***
Marathon trainees should be running at least 20 miles per week before the program begins. Half marathon tranees should be running at least 12 miles per week before the program begins. Both programs begin with long runs of over 6 miles.
