Location: We meet at Adams Point, Lake Merritt, just off Bellevue Ave. Oakland, on the grassy meadow next to the Sailboat House (568 Bellevue Ave.)
Registration: We are only able to take preregistration at this time with no same day race registration.
The Fourth Sunday Runs are held every month except May (Tilden Tough Ten 2023) and June (Woodmonster!) on the fourth Sunday of the month. The distances offered are a 5K (once around the Lake), a 10K (two times around), and 15K. The updated course (including the south shore improvements and new pedestrian bridge) is in the process of being re-certified.
Participation ribbons are given to all runners and place ribbons are awarded to the top runners, both male and female in ten year age groups. All those interested in running, whether beginner, walker, jogger, or competitive racer are welcome to join our monthly runs. Water is available to the runners and volunteers are present to assist runners at the start and finish lines.
Kids Races
Bring the kids to the Fourth Sunday races -- free, no registration required. Starting at 8:40 a.m. will be the Kids Race. The Kids Race is intended for the younger kids, toddlers to first graders as the distance is just 100 yards. Volunteers will supervise the race so that parents and spectators can cheer the kids on. Each child will receive a LMJS logo'ed ribbon. At 8:45 a.m. we hold the Youth Race. The Youth Race is for older kids, ages 9 to 12, and will take place on the paved path that parallels the street, Bellevue, and will be about 1/2 mile.
When and Where
NEW: The LMJS Fourth Sunday 15K Run will begin at 8:45 a.m. with both the 5K and 10K beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Adams Point, just before the Sailboat House, rain or shine. All Club members who meet the challenge will receive a certificate and a round of applause at the annual Club membership banquet (generally held late January, early February). In addition, the top three finishers within their age and gender brackets will get a special place recognition on their certificate along with bragging rights.
