We're going virtual with the LMJS marathon and half marathon training program! Stay motivated and train with us! We are excited to once again be the official East Bay training program for the Oakland Running Festival's marathon and half marathon, virtual in 2021. The 16-week training program runs from November 30, 2020 through March 2021, and will get you ready for the Oakland races, or another spring race. The program includes a supportive virtual community, online training platform, weekly training run schedule, suggested running routes, and training shirt. 

The MARATHON training program begins Monday, November 30, 2020, and will run for 16 weeks. Marathon training participants should be running at least 20 miles/week before starting the program. The HALF MARATHON training program begins Monday, December 28, 2020, and will run for 12 weeks. Participants should be running at least 12 miles/week before beginning training. Half marathon training participants are encouraged to begin participating in the virtual group when the marathon training begins (and run shorter distances as appropriate).

We have helped hundreds of runners prepare for and enjoy our hometown celebration of running. Whether you're training for your first half marathon or your tenth marathon, you can benefit from this program featuring:

  • Continuous camaraderie, including pace group weekly coaching online and training tips

  • An online training platform to plan, record, and analyze your runs and other workouts. The LMJS training plans can easily be added to your workout calendar with alerts of upcoming workouts sent to you via text or email. Completed runs sync via Garmin or Strava so you can analyze your workout.

  • Beginner and advanced levels. Plus, new in the virtual world: “rusty runner” support, for those of us who haven’t been running much the past several months.

  • Run routes/maps for varying distances, by location

  • Virtual events with guest speakers on running-related topics

  • Track workout options, based on pace group leader/locations

  • And possibly the opportunity to gather in small pods for safe, distanced runs on occasion (while adhering to COVID-19 guidelines)

  • You'll make new running friends, and learn from others' experiences
