Presidio XC

  • 29 Sep 2012
  • 8:30 AM
  • Spruce St, Presidio Park, San Francisco
Course Description by Len Goldman:  Race distance is 5K. Park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk to the start, about a half mile. You can also get to the race start by driving through the Presidio proper, see directions for the race. Park bathrooms at the start. In some respects this is the most difficult of all the courses, it has quite a bit of climbing, the footing can be a bit dicey and in parts it is narrow. Start is on a baseball field, and after about 100 yards you funnel down to a narrow exit point, so if you don't want to get caught up in the pack, sprint hard at the beginning for better exiting position. Once you exit the field, the climbing begins, gradual at first but continues to build. You will be on a dirt path/trail the rest of the way. You loop around on the hill side. Watch your step, as footing can be a bit treacherous in places. Finish back on the field and be prepared to sprint to the finish line. I would rate this course as hard, mainly because of the hills involved.

8:30 AM: Open Men's Start
9:15 AM: Master Men's Start
