Plan on gaining strength with drills, stair reps, hill repeats and downhill running to give you an idea of our activities. Trail running requires more strength and agility than road running, yet it can be easier on our bodies with slightly less impact.
We'll be gathering at different staging areas of the Triple Crown Races: Tilden Tough Ten, Chabot Trail Challenge 1/2 marathon and the "Woodmonster" 9 mile course in Redwood Park.
We'll use the LMJS Tilden Tough Ten (May 17) in our training with LMJS Woodminster 9 mile cross country race as our goal race June 21. Those who are up for the Chabot Trail Challenge would race while others run a different route June 7 @ Lake Chabot Regional Park.
We will start with a 5 mile (almost) flat run - 7 mile hillier run depending on your fitness level and previous running for our first session. Contact Jeanine Holmlund: mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
We just finished the LMJS Trail Fitness Class with 44 registrants. A number of those runners plan to continue up to March 22 on Sundays @ 9am. If you would like to join this group please contact Jeanine for details. We will continue the trail fitness theme and prepare for the beginning of this next Trail Training Program running from 3-6 miles. We'll continue climbing and descent drill work, and building core strength.
