BEGINNER RUNNING CLASS

LMJS offers a beginner running class to help individuals prepare for a 5K (3.1 miles). The program is designed for those new to running or who want to improve their endurance in the 3-5 mile distance.

The training sessions, designed to fit into your busy schedule, will start on Sunday, June 23. We will meet in person on five consecutive Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the picturesque Lake Merritt in Oakland. The program's goal race is the fully supported, timed LMJS Fourth Sunday Races at Lake Merritt on July 28(registration not included).

Each class is a supportive and engaging environment, covering essential topics such as form, safety, injury prevention, and other basic running skills. We provide a comprehensive training schedule and an abundance of encouragement. Our coach will also share plenty of online documents and resources to keep you engaged during and after the class, ensuring a rewarding and enjoyable training class.

This training fits best for anyone who wants to work up to a 5K and those who wish to restart running again. Registration is required for this program, with a minimum enrollment of 15 and capped at 40 to get the most fun, benefits, and camaraderie.

The cost is $25 for members (only $5 a class, but the benefits are priceless) and $30 for non-members. Join a great club and save money on registration, so become a member before registering. You'll receive more discounts on future training/programs and stay connected to a diverse, welcoming, and fun club.

Feel free to contact the coach, Edmundo Vitocruz, at vitocruz@aol.com with any questions or to request a fee-assistance registration code. He is a certified running coach under the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).

LMJS is a non-profit, member of RRCA, and an all-volunteer organization that supports and gives back to many local adult/youth running/training programs by sharing our experiences/knowledge of running and donations.

Meeting Location: Adams Point, Lake Merritt, 568 Bellevue Ave (Grassy Meadow just before you reach the Sailboat House)
