Trail Running FUNdamentals

Our novice/newbie trail class is back!  Learn essential skills to give you confidence when running on our beautiful Bay Area trails. This class is for people new to trail running and those returning to running.  Slow-paced and various abilities are welcome.

_______________________________________________________________

This class introduces participants to the basics of trail running, including building aerobic fitness and hill-based strength training while improving agility and running form. Trail safety and etiquette will be emphasized in each class. We will visit various trails in the Oakland Hills with the goal of running comfortably up to 3 miles by the last class meeting.

Also, we provide plenty of shared online documents and resources to keep you engaged during class.

Prerequisite: None.  Be comfortable moving on uneven dirt, gravel, or grassy surfaces.

Dates: 6 consecutive Sundays starting Aug. 18, 2024, to Sept. 22, 2024.

Time: 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Class size limit:  35 participants

Class fee all sessions is $30 for club members or $40 non-members. We recommend becoming a member and before registering.

Meeting place: Various locations in the Oakland Hills, like Joaquin Miller Park and Redwood Park, will be announced by weekly email. The instructor strongly encourages and supports carpooling.

Fee: Flat fee, but contact the instructor for fee assistance and attendance concerns/issues. Our club's mission is to support a diverse community of runners. Reminder: our club is 100% volunteer-run, so fees go to help other local adult/youth activity programs focused on building community and good mental and physical health, like our club mission!

Instructors: Edmundo Vito Cruz, Road Runners Club of America RRCA certified run coach and Helpers.

Contact: If you have questions about the class, please email Edmundo
