Let's celebrate our club membership to recognize some of our important contributions from these last few years!

Chosen by our marathon training directors, Annemarie Henning and Margaret Schultz, Ed Nanale and Rohan Kalbag were our standout volunteers for the 2023 marathon training program.  Tom Keenan is another one of those special people supporting our programs week in and week out for the Sunday trail runs.

Recognized for a solid year (and more) of contributions, Chris Rogers was awarded for his leadership in organizing the Sunday Fun Trails.

This year our RRCA volunteer awards for distinguished contributions to the running community went to Annemarie Henning, Debra Cramer and Margaret Schultz. Annemarie and Margaret have done a tremendous job engaging our entire club in the marathon training program with record numbers while reaching out to many community partners to support our program.  Debra has been a key helper behind the scenes for our racing team and is also a middle school track and cross country coach.

Finally, Kathryn Dernham, former board member and board president, logistical organizer for our special races, marathon training pacer and current leader of Saturday runs was given our most prized award named after former board member and superb volunteer John Momper.

Thank you to each and everyone of you for being part of our LMJS community and your every day contributions of sharing yourselves, your ideas, and your energy to make our club a special space for everyone.  Join us on LMJS slack, so you don't miss a step!

Our next 4th Sunday Run will be July 23, 2023

Come join us for our Fourth Sunday Run on July 24 at Lake Merritt. We'd love to see you there! We meet at the grassy meadow directly next to the Lake Merritt Sailboat House located at 665 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland.

Announcements & News

February 1, 2021

Dear LMJS Members and Friends,

We hope you and all those close to you are safe, healthy, and active during the pandemic. We are proud to have a running club like LMJS to help keep us stay connected and engaged and provide grants/donations to support our community’s non-profits, including food banks, youth-run programs, and racial equity organizations during these difficult times. While members and friends are doing activities separated from each other, we are still moving forward and together as LMJS.

Our Board would like to offer all Members and New Members relief for the annual membership fee. We hope these temporary sliding scale fee choices, effective February 1, 2021, through January 31, 2022, will be beneficial:

  • Individual Level fee choices are $2.50, $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00
  • Family Level fee choices are $2.50, $5.00, $15.00, and $30.00
  • New Members will have the same choices for Individual or Family levels. Everyone is encouraged to join or renew.

Thank you for continuing your Membership and supporting our LMJS Mission and Vision.

LMJS Board of Directors

Thanks to Everyone who has donated to our Virtual 4th Sunday Races!

LMJS Community Service

As part of our community service, LMJS supports our local food banks and other organizations that align with the LMJS mission through monetary donations, generated by our races and training programs.  Especially during this time of the Covid pandemic, we see the continued need to support the food banks in our communities. Through your support and donations, LMJS Races has donated to the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Solano and Contra Costa Food Bank, and other community organizations.
