Hayward Empowerment Through Sport Running Camp with Imagining More

Program Overview

Imagining More Foundation is offering this one-day camp to 70 East Bay high school cross country athletes (in grades 9-12) and their coaches. Hosted by Hayward High School, the camp is an opportunity to interact with three-time Olympian, Shannon Rowbury, and Mexican distance record holder, Pablo Solares. Camp counselors are current track and cross country athletes on the SF State campus and their coach, Sierra Brill.

During the camp students will: 

  • Learn/Review running essentials: warmup, workout, racing, physical weaknesses and recovery

  • Discuss ways to improve physical, mental, emotional and social health

  • Gain insight into the college recruiting process and scholarship opportunities

  • Realize how participating in sport can enhance the school experience and lead to higher levels of academic and career success

  • Discover their joy in the running community

The camp agenda consists of the following activities and education:

  • Training sessions: NCS course run, relay games + skills (warm up, activation, stretching, drills)
  •  Educational sessions: recovery meals, running gear, nutrition, college recruiting, motivational journeys
  •  A nutritious Trader Joes breakfast, GU protein recovery shake, and El Rancho Mercado lunch for all attendees
