2018 Oakland Running Festival Marathon and Half Marathon

Join the official East Bay training program for the 2018 Oakland Running Festival (ORF) Marathon and Half Marathon!

Train for your spring marathon or half marathon with LMJS and join a community of runners who support your running. 

Marathon Training Program

  • 18 weeks
  • Begins Monday, November 20, 2017.
  • First group run on Saturday, November 25 at 8:00 am. 

Half Marathon Training Program

  • 12 weeks
  • Begins Monday, January 1, 2018
  • First group run on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 8:00 am.
  • Trainees are encouraged to join Saturday runs with marathon trainees beginning November 25.

The fine print

This is not a "couch to finish line" program. We expect trainees to be running when the programs begin.

  • Marathon trainees should be running at least 20 miles per week before the program begins.
  • Half marathon trainees should be running at least 12 miles per week before the program begins.
  • Both programs begin with long runs of over 6 miles. Half marathon trainees are encouraged to start with the marathon trainees in December to build their training base.
