Official East Bay Training Program for the 2018 Oakland Running Festival Marathon and Half Marathon

Join the official East Bay training program for the 2018 Oakland Running Festival (ORF) Marathon and Half Marathon!

Train for your spring marathon or half marathon with LMJS and join a community of runners who support your running. 

Marathon Training Program: 18-week program; training starts Monday, November 20, 2017 with first group run on Saturday, November 25 at 8:00 am

Half Marathon Training Program: 12-week program; training starts Monday, January 1, 2018 with first group run on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 8:00 am. Half marathon trainees are encouraged to join Saturday runs beginning November 25.

The fine print: Note that this is not a "couch to finish line" program.  We do expect our trainees to be running when the programs start. 
  • Marathon trainees should be running at least 20 miles per week before the program starts.
  • Half marathon trainees should be running at least 12 miles per week before the program starts.
  • Both programs start with runs of at least 6 miles for the first long run. Half marathon trainees are encouraged to start with the marathon trainees in December to build their training base.
