Topic: Topic: How to Run for a Lifetime: Understanding the Effects of Aging on the Runner’s Body

Abstract: Jack Zakarian has been an LMJS member ever since the Club’s founding in 1977. He has been an active runner for 45 years, starting from when he joined his high school cross country team. He has competed in races from the half mile to the marathon and has logged enough miles to circle the equator more than twice. In this talk, Jack will give tips for how to enjoy a lifetime of running. He will also share some information on how the runner’s body changes over time. Jack earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a certificate in Health & Fitness Training from the UC Berkeley Extension.
