Garin Park, Almost in our back yard! Description by Len Goldman:
Race distance is 5K, mainly on a dirt fire trail. Only race in the series in the East Bay. Start area is a meadow, can park fairly close and walk in a short ways. Park bathrooms at the start area, this is a very popular course for high school meets. Starts out flat and stays that way for a half mile or so, then it seems like all you do is climb. Most of the course is in the open, no shade and it can be hot. The zenith of the climbing is at about 1.5 miles (there will be some
level sections between climbing). After 1.5 miles you start heading back the way you came and the rest of the way it is either downhill or flat. Not one of my favorites, not especially scenic either, but it is in the East Bay, so a short drive. Difficulty factor would be hard, because of the hills and the fact you are exposed for most of the course.
