Recap of 32nd Annual Couples Relay-February 28th

The 32nd annual Couples Relay were held under blue skies, a welcome change from the previous two years when rain greeted the runners while they ran. A record number of teams participated, 174, plus there were 5 partial teams, of just one runner. Each team received a goody bag filled with various items, plus on hand at the race were Total Ice Therapy, Body Mechanix, Honest Tea, Innersport Chiropractic, and the cheering section from Lululemon. A number of local running clubs were out in force at the race including Pamakid Runners, Forward Motion, and the Pleasanton Heat to name a few. The winning team, was Sophie Hartley and Gabe Arias-Sheraton from the Pleasnton Heat and their time was 36:40. This was the 3rd consecutive year that a team from this youth running club has won the race overall. The race would not have been possible without the help of all the volunteers who made sure things ran smoothly; it was another outstanding effort and a real example of teamwork. Finally, special thanks to race directors Patrick McKinney and Jessica Russell who devoted countless hours to make sure the race was a success.
